What should we do this year? (This year we added a second day ride on the 19th!!)

2:45pm, meet at 2:45pm, ride leaves Grant Park promptly at 3pm. ends at the people's co-opMy mom just learned how to ride a bike last year (shortly after her 54th birthday). During Pedalpalooza, she will be visiting for the first time since I moved to Portland 5 years ago. She and I will be leading the ride around inner SE/NE (with a loop around the waterfront). Relatively slow paced, mostly flat, plenty of corkers to protect our moms, and ending with optional smoothies and such (location is vegan friendly, 5 bucks should cover it). Moms and those of us who appreciate them are encouraged to attend. Please come out and show my mom why bike culture is so awesome!

- GET LOST!
3:00pm - 5:00pm, ...ish
A ride led entirely by chance. Dice are rolled to determine how many blocks to ride, and which direction to turn once we get there (Odd total =R, Even =L). We will try to establish a record distance before reaching a dead end.
No idea what to expect, but since we won't be taking designated bike routes riders should be pretty comfortable in semi-hairy conditions, but dangerous or illegal routes will not be traveled.
Probably not a loop, but I guess there's always a chance.

PRIDE KICKOFF RIDE

- DEAD FREEWAYS RIDE
5:45pm - 8:45pmWhat if...Portland built all the freeways it planned? This ride follows the routes of several highways that never made it off the drawing board, such as the fabled Mt. Hood Freeway, some that did but were later removed, like Harbor Drive, and also as a reference some freeways that currently exist. We'll see the parallels of the past freeway fights with what's going on with the current Columbia River Crossing project. Approx 13 miles of riding through moderate traffic.

PDXFIXED - LIFEBLOOD OF BIKE CULTURE RIDE
-
5:00pmA rare IRL meeting of PDXFixed, Portland's bicycle Illuminati, or "lifeblood of bike culture," as BikeSnobNYC put it. This "ride" may involve very little riding and the content will be decided on what may seem to the uninitiated as petty whim, but in reality is due to the bike Gods revealing their Truth to us with each no brak barspin. What's certain is imbibing of the vile, ceremonial "4Loko," rejoicing, hating on posers, and making important decisions about the future of bike culture. Pdxfixed.com for mo info. Lurkers welcome, but may be subject to harsh criticism of their saddle angle

5:30pm, until we can't stand or sit up anymore.[EDIT: it's chilly, raining, and i think i just got my first ulcer. don't stress if you're not feeling up to falling in the mud. i'll be out there just in case people actually show]. Pair up with a friend or find a partner when you arrive. Contestants will be required to spin an absurd number of times before attempting to mount their bike, ride to their partner and switch. HELMETS ARE MANDATORY. If you don't have one, there may be some on hand to borrow. This event will be ridden on grass. We'll make most of it up as we go along. However: everyone rides at their own risk.
