  on the shortest night of the year!\n\nAlas\, the torch was not formally 
 passed on and some Fool left us in the dark... \;-)\nWe have to keep the 
 legacy alive!\n\nLast year I went solo on such a journey and I feel a need
  to make this happen\, hopefully this year with a fellowship.\n\nThis is a
  LONG (40+ mi)\, not-a-loop ride. Swift/casual pace with stops. This is 
 not a "no drop" style ride. Due to it's nature the group has historically 
 thinned significantly between start and end. We won't aim at stranding 
 anyone in an obscure place in the wee hours\, but consider this 
 eventuality. This ride is challenging but that makes it more memorable. I 
 will try to create a trek that is as eccentric as the rides I 
 remember.\n\nBe prepared. Bring layers\, lights\, libations and light 
 fare. Tune your bike. There will be at least one stop at a 24h facility to
  replenish. Leave no trace!\n\nLet there be music! Let us watch our sun 
 dip and reappear and celebrate by turning our wheels in between!\n\nWe'll
