SUMMARY:Bike Summer Kickoff Ride

DESCRIPTION:This is the official ride that kicks off the festivities every
  year.\n\nVolunteers will be selling Bike Summer merch from 3:00pm to 
 4:30pm. We will have a limited amount of pennants\, stickers\,  tote 
 bags\, and special-edition posters for sale at the park\, as well as 
 shirts for you to try on before you buy online. If you ordered merch in 
 the first pre-order\, you need to pick it up by 4:45pm at the latest. No 
 2nd order pre-merch will be available for pick up. We'll also have Ride 
 Leader pennants to give away - first come\, first served.\n\nVolunteers on
  site will help affix pennants to bikes. Donations welcome!\n\nGround 
 Score Association will be onsite leading up to the event helping clean up 
 the park and during the event to tell us about the work they do. Street 
 Roots will be onsite handing out Rose City Resource Guides and their 
 vendors will be selling newspapers. Street Books will be down there with 
 their free library on wheels. All organizations will be riding with us. 
 Please bring cash to donate to them. We are so grateful for all of the 
 work they do.\n\nKidical Mass is leading a feeder ride to the North Park 
 Blocks from Laurelhurst Park at 3:30pm (details here: 
 https://www.shift2bikes.org/calendar/event-18985). We'll make an effort to
  have kids ride at the front of the ride with the leaders.\n\nShow up 
 early to catch the Drag Show at the Cart Blocks (770 W Burnside St)\, 
 enjoy tacos and beverages at De Noche (422 NW 8th Ave)\, and discover 
 gluten free phở at Butterfly Belly (323 NW Park Ave). GO SUPPORT THESE 
 LOCAL BUSINESSES.\n\nBe ready to enjoy tunes leading up to Kickoff by DJ 
 Lo and Portland Samba!\n\nTimeline:\n3:00pm - Event starts\, DJ Lo starts 
 (ends at 4:30pm)\n3:00pm - Drag show at the Cart Blocks (ends at 4:00pm) 
 \n4:30pm - Portland Samba starts (ends at 4:50pm)\n4:30pm - Sales end at 
 merch booth\n4:45pm - Last pick up for pre-ordered items\n5:00pm - Ride 
 departs\n6:00pm - Picnic and hang at Laurelhurst Park with DJs and Olive &
  Dingo entertaining us with bike-themed songs\, books\, and silly balloon 
 creatures\n\nWe depart at 5pm on-the-dot for a family-friendly cruise\, 
 lasting about an hour. \n\nYou are encouraged to dress yourself and your 
 bike up. If you're leading a ride this Bike Summer\, consider promoting

 note: The Starlight Parade is happening downtown the same day. They will 
 have most of downtown blocked off south of Burnside (see closure map here 
 -> https://www.rosefestival.org/events/2024/starlightparade). Do not plan 
 on driving downtown. Take public transportation if you are unable to bike 
 down. Come closer to 3pm\, as streets and bridges will start closing 
 around 4pm. Broadway and Steel are your best bet for bridges into the city
  from the East side. As always\, be courteous to pedestrians.\n\nHappy
