SUMMARY:Larch Mountain Ride with Seltzer Cycling Club
CONTACT:Thijs Kleinpaste
DESCRIPTION:Did you know there is no scientific difference between a toad
and a frog? Essentially\, what is a frog and what is a toad is entirely a
naming convention based on whether human beings think of the creature as
either a shiny pretty little fella\, or well... as a toad.\n\nAnyway\, the
road up to Larch Mountain has new asphalt and where it was as lumpy as a
toad's skin in some places last year\, it's as smooth as a frog's skin
this year. So let's ride it!\n\nWe'll meet up at a Seltzer favorite:
Sugarpine Drive In (and we'll return to that location as well). Larch
Mountain is an out-and-back\, with a little extracurricular hike at the
top to Sherrard Point where on a clear day\, five volcano peaks can be
seen: St Helens\, Mt Hood\, Mt Adams\, Mt Washington and Mt Jefferson.
It's a great view and a great reward for the work that's necessary to get
there. Those who have skipped ahead to take a look at the ride profile can
see that it's a very straightforward ride: the first half we go up\, the
second half we go down. Larch Mountain isn't a very hard climb\, it's just
very long. And that makes it hard. Anyway\, at the end there will be a
sundae waiting for us. Sunday for a sundae. I can't wait.\n\nMeet-up at
10AM\, rollout at 10:15 sharp. This is a road ride\, so skinny tires will
do. But wider tires are never a bad idea.\n\n--\n\nSeltzer Cycling Club is
an inclusive\, moderately-paced cycling club based in Portland\, Oregon.
Our rides sit squarely on the fun side of tough. Aspiring to support and
empower each other into more confident and all-round riders. Some weeks
 that's a chill local roller to a hidden-away bakery. Others\, a multi-day
slog in the mountains. But most often you will find something in between\,
blending road and gravel. And always a 100% no-drop\, social-first and
 group supported ride.\nhttps://shift2bikes.org/calendar/event-19507
