DESCRIPTION:Tandem riding on gravel??  What a ridiculous idea\, so let's 
 do it!  Our city was built on a forest\, and that forest still exists 
 along the gravel roads.  This ten-mile loop in SE Portland covers some of 
 Gravelland's favorite SE gravel sections\, including the shoulder of Mt 
 Tabor park.  First-time gravel riders\, if you're game\, this is not a 
 race\, it's all about the fun of gravel in the city\; we don't have the 
 resources for sweeping the course but this is a no-drop ride.  There will 
 be frequent gathering spots along the way.  And while most of the gravel 
 is fairly smooth and level\, every section has a paved road that parallels
  it\, and there's not a thing wrong with opting out of some of the 
 steeper\, more rutted sections.  You'll want gravel or knobby tires for 
 this event\; smooth road tires will not work.\n\nThere is one potentially 
 difficult crossing of SE 52nd (there is a traffic light a few blocks away 
 if we need it)\, and a couple other crossings of moderate difficulty.  
 There will be no crossing marshals (corkers)\, we'll have to be careful
