DESCRIPTION:Portlanders looking for an outdoor activity can experience a 
 day of camaraderie\, fitness and giving. The second annual Pedal Around 
 Portland on August 17\, 2024\, sponsored by Trek Bicycle\, is an event 
 that promises not only an extraordinary cycling adventure but also an 
 opportunity to change the lives of children in need of a bike. Riders can 
 register at Pedal Around Portland.  We encourage members of the press to 
 capture the spirit of the event and participate and/or interview 
 representatives or riders before\, during or after at any of the Trek 
 Bicycle locations.\n\nRiders will begin at a Trek Bicycle shop (on-site 
 registration begins at 8:00 A.M\; ride begins at 9:00 AM on Saturday\, 
 August 17) and enjoy a casual cruise featuring fun-filled rest stops at 
 each store\, tasty treats and prizes. Participants can ride as much (the 
 loop is 50 miles in total) or as little (the shortest route is just 10 
 miles) of the route as they like. \n\n•	Date: Saturday\, August 17\, 
 2024\n•	Time: Day-of registration begins at 8:00 A.M.\; ride begins at 
 9:00 A.M. Advance registration is recommended at

  the following Trek locations:\n•	Trek Beaverton (Canyon Rd.) \n•	Trek

  Valley (SE 82nd Ave.) \n•	Trek Hollywood (NE Sandy Blvd.) \n•	Trek 
 Slabtown (SW 10th Ave.) \n•	Family Short Ride (Trek Happy Valley to Trek 
 Westmoreland and back) 10 miles.\n\nHelmets are required\, and lights\, 
 GPS cycle computers\, flat kits and hydration are recommended. Trek will 
 have a support team at each of the shops\, plus many volunteers on the 
 ride itself\, to help with any ride-day needs. \n\nDETAILS\n•	Packet 
 pickup: Riders who have registered in advance can pick up packets during 
 store hours on Friday\, August 16 from the shop from which they’ll be 
 riding\, or they can pick it up at their starting point the day of the 
 ride.\n•	Registration fee: $40\; an additional donation at time of 
 registration will provide a bike for a child from Free Bikes 4 Kidz. \n•	
 Rental bikes are available at Trek Hollywood and Trek Westmoreland
