SUMMARY:Russellquist Bridal Velo: Cycling\, Camping\, and Celebrating John
  & Emily's Wedding
CONTACT:Bureau of John Russell
DESCRIPTION:Meet in town or along the HCRH for a ride to camp at the
Russellquist wedding in Cascade Lox with Sugarpine lunch stop.\n\nPack
your camping gear\, load up your bike\, and join us at one of many stops
along our scenic route through the Columbia River Gorge as we celebrate
the marriage of John Russell and Emily Steelquist at Thunder Island in
Cascade Locks. Starting from inner N/NE Portland\, we’ll leave town via
Marine Drive on our way to lunch at Sugarpine Drive-in on the Sandy River
in Troutdale\, which is <2 miles from the Columbia Gorge Express bus
stop\, which stops in Troutdale at 1:35 pm en route to Multnomah Falls\,
Cascade Locks\, and Hood River. Assuming fair winds\, we'll plan to be at
 Sugarpine Drive-In from roughly 1:30 to 2:30 PM.\n\nAfter lunch\, the ride
will continue along the Historic Columbia River Highway and State Trail
all of the way to Cascade Locks. After a brief stop at Portland Women’s
Forum State Scenic Viewpoint\, a segment of the HCRH to the Vista House is
currently closed for construction due to a landslide and may require a
steep\, unpaved detour. Fortunately\, this closure means that traffic is
much lower on either side of the detour! The ride may regroup a few times
at major stops so no one gets left behind\, as well as to meet other
riders who will join us along the way. If there are no major delays\, we
plan to ride past Multnomah Falls around the 4:30 PM\, which is within 5
minutes of the Columbia Gorge Express buses in both directions. We hope to
pass Eagle Creek around 5:30 PM.\n\nRiders with larger/heavier bikes
should be aware of the stairs located near Eagle Creek\, which will be
traversed in the downstairs direction\, or bypassed via the Toothrock
Tunnel on I-84\, which is open to bikes:

eld_guide/Eagle_Creek_Staircase\n\nIf all goes according to plan\, we will
end at the Marine Park Campground in Cascade Locks around 6 PM\, where
we’ll join our fellow campers for BYO Happy Hour and we welcome friends we
couldn’t invite to camp with us on Saturday and/or Sunday night. While
our love and camping space may be virtually unlimited\, the Bureau of John
Russell regrets that seating capacity may be limited to a financially
constrained list—first in our hearts\, last in line for a slice. Balancing
the budget is optional\, but appreciated. While “banned [still] means
banned\,” attendance is not limited by blood relation\, state boundary\,
or pedaling capacity—only by willingness to celebrate the marriage of John
& Emily in true Cascadian style.\n\nLastly\, there is no return ride
planned as we leave for our honeymoon bike tour\, so riders are encouraged
to coordinate with other guests or plan to take the Columbia Gorge
Express home for only $10\, which has bike racks on each bus to hold over
 half a dozen bicycles:\nhttps://www.ridecatbus.org/columbia-gorge-
 express/\nMeet at 11:00\, ride at 11:30 AM.\nEnds at Cascade
 Locks\nhttps://shift2bikes.org/calendar/event-21517
LOCATION:Irving Park\n707 NE Fremont St\, Portland\, OR 97212\nMeet at the
picnic tables near the Tennis Courts\, following Coffee Outside
