SUMMARY:The Let It Go Ride (Mellow Monday)
CONTACT:@groundhogzday
DESCRIPTION:My name is Conor (@groundhogzday) and it is my distinct
pleasure to lead Mellow Monday with my first ride- \n\nThe Let it Go
Ride!\n\nHave you been through a breakup recently… or at literally any
point in your life… that just rocked you and left you picking up the
pieces? Whether you initiated the breakup or got broken up with\, the
 emotional aftershocks can last weeks\, months\, years… a lifetime.
Unless\, of course\, we actually process it and let it go.\nIn the past
few years\, I went through a separation and eventual divorce from someone
I once thought I’d be with until I punched out of this mortal realm. But
alas\, the universe had other eventualities in store for me. This year\, I
broke up with my first real significant other since the divorce\, and
 although I initiated it\, it left me raw\, reflective\, and re-evaluating
what I’m looking for in a partner… and in life. Awkward. \nIt occurred to
me that I carry a lot of unresolved heartache and just… keep it moving.
Maybe you do too. In fact\, I carry it in a very literal sense. I keep
notes and letters from exes. Tucked away in my closet\, they radiate the
energy of yesteryear\, collecting dust from the weeks I go without
thinking of those who wrote them.\nWhy do I keep them?\nIs it in case we
get back together so I can pass them down to our grandkids? I don’t want
to get back together with any of these people.\nIs it so when they cart me
to a memory care facility I can have a robot caretaker read them to me
and remind me that I once enjoyed intense romance with lovely women before
the microplastic poisoning-induced dementia took hold? \nIs it to
document that I was once loved\, just in case they find me dead in my
apartment\, my cat sustaining itself on my rotten guts?\nI mean…
 maybe.\nBut I’ve decided something.\nI’m going to burn them.\nAnd I think
you should burn yours with me.\nI think we should burn them together. As a
community. Let go. Make room. Say goodbye.\nBike with me from Abernathy
Elementary to Poet’s Beach\, where we will ceremonially burn our exes’
notes and letters while listening to Sleep Now In The Fire by Rage Against
the Machine. The ride soundtrack will be a mix of breakup songs\,
 getting-over-them songs\, fuck-them songs\, and probably some 90s jungle
DnB because that’s just a phase I’m going through right now. Please feel
encouraged to reach out with song recommendations via Instagram or when we
meet up at the school.\nThere will be a store stop along the way for
anyone who needs White Claw\, a dry turkey sandwich\, whatever your
healing journey requires.\nYou don’t have to burn anything. You don’t have
to say anything. You can just come on the ride and intentionally let go
of whatever you’re holding onto that no longer serves you.\nMaybe it’s
that job you got let go from. Let that shit go.\nMaybe it’s that
friendship that drifted for no particular reason. Let that shit go.\nMaybe
it’s the filmmaking career you were absolutely certain you were going to
have when you were 20. Let that shit go.\nAlso\, it’s all welcome. Cry\,
 scream\, shout\, laugh\, curse\, sing. Whatever shows up for you\, we will
accept and embrace it as a community.\nJoin me\, your first-time ride
leader Conor @groundhogzday\, @nakedheartspdx\, and the whole damn gang on
Monday\, April 13 at Abernathy Elementary\, where we’ll come together as
a community of fun-loving cyclists and support one another in letting it
go- all of it. - Meet at 7\, intros at 7:25 and ride at 7:30p.m.\,\nMeet
at 7 to congregate and call down our ancestors and animal guides.
Announcements at 7:25. Ride off into the night at 7:30\nEnds at Poet’s
 Beach\nhttps://shift2bikes.org/calendar/event-23456
LOCATION:Abernethy Elementary School\n2421 SE Orange Ave\, Portland\, OR
97214\nOn the black top near the basketball court is where we shall stage
 our departure.
