Items such as , Winter clothing, Boots, Gloves and socks (new only) and underwear (new only) Tarps and sleeping bags, Food items from sandwich’s to tins and easy prep food like bread and peanut butter and jelly. Personal hygiene products like toothbrushes and baby wipes. There’s a long list. We will meet up, hit a grocery outlet then head to their location and drop off goods. Hello Ladies! Would you like to learn how to fix a flat tire on your bicycle? I'd love to teach you. Trek Slabtown is opening their space for us so we have a nice roomy bikey indoor spot. Please note: this is for ladies* only (*trans ladies this means you too!). No dudes, no e-bikes**, no offense (**I am not equipped to teach any e-bike maintenance) Afterwards, we'll head out for a short ride into Forest Park together (see separate posting).

We are here to call out the normalizing of traffic violence. Traffic fatalities are not accidents, they are preventable deaths of our friends, neighbors, and family members. This year Portland will join a record number of U.S. communities urging action to address the nation’s historic – and preventable – roadway safety crisis. Our event is meant to acknowledge the devastating impacts of road violence on victims, surviving family members, friends, emergency responders, healthcare providers, law enforcement officers, and so many others. Join Families for Safe Streets, Oregon Walks, BikeLoud, elected officials, and transportation leaders to demand funding for safe streets. BikeLoud is hosting several rides to the event. Check the shift calendar for rides to this event from your neighborhood.

Ride is a loop
This monthly ride is friendly to beginners and experienced lady* riders alike (* trans-ladies this means you too!). Lady-powered bikes only - no dudes, no e-bikes**, no offense. (** due to the speed and battery requirements of e-bikes, they are not a good fit for this ride). Special November ride! I'll be teaching flat repair to ladies from 10:30 am - 12pm at the Trek store in Slabtown (see separate posting). After the flat clinic, we'll ride from Trek Slabtown into the gorgeous (unpaved) Forest Park for a 13 mile loop. Pace 8-10mph, slower on hillz!

Ride is a loop
Mellow Mondays is a weekly THEMED ride, all year. All Wheels, All Riders, All Welcome. Each week there’s a different theme. This is a community orientated space for experienced and new ride leaders to try out ideas in a supportive environment. We can help with all aspects of ride planning and we’d love to hear your ideas. See news flash for the weeks theme and ride leader This is a safe space where we practice consent and non-violence. For consent practice we ask, even if you’re with your BFF we ask, you ask permission before touching them or their property and seek, listen and empower ‘no’. We practice non-violence specifically around car interactions and corking. These are our neighbors and we see them all the time so please be courteous and friendly, try and stay at least 4 ft from their bumper if corking. We ask for moderation on drinking and substances. This isn’t a sober ride, but it’s a safe space and moderation helps keep the atmosphere relaxed. Please report any issues directly to your ride leader and or Shift. We strongly recommend, RideSafe:PDX’s weekly Thursday ride for the welcoming queer/trans inclusion and community they’ve built. Always a special atmosphere. If you’re a banned rider you’re banned here too. We’ve no tolerance for bigotry, hate, and bullies.

Sat, Nov 23, 2024, 10:00 AM
Three meeting points: 1. SE Clinton St/41st Ave at 10 am; 2. SE Clinton St/26 Ave at 10:10 am; 3. Tilikum Bridge at PDX Opera ~10:30 am; leaving from Tilikum location ~10:35 am
11:00 AM
End location: PSU’s Fariborz Maseeh Hall at SW Broadway and Harrison
An all-ages/all-abilities ride from SE PDX to the PSU Farmers Market to help support local farmers, bakers and makers of all kinds. This is a great opportunity to meet and develop community in a relaxed, informal setting. A post-ride adventure that is only loosely planned beforehand sometimes follows. Riders are welcome to leave at any point during or after reaching the farmers market. UPDATE 9-15-2024: Four years we’ve ridden together to the market to support farmers and artisans. This was always about community. For nearly one year Israel has been murdering Palestinians with full support of the USA and our tax dollars. And for the past six months my advocacy has been refocused on the fight for liberation. Through my associations with nonprofits like The Street Trust (TST) & Bike Loud PDX I urged that leadership make statements against genocide. At the TST, this led to the revelation that monies of this nonprofit were invested in Black Rock (which TST says it has now divested from). However, at both nonprofits there is largely silence and handwringing. So, for the past few months I have focused my efforts on my community members and acquaintances. I have urged that folks break their silence and do whatever they can to bring attention to the plight of the oppressed and subjugated. And, while my words have been received, I see no significant action in kind from the receivers. This has brought me to the conclusion that a group bike ride is a wonderful tool that *can* be used to bring about Justice but without intention to do so it can be a deluding force. After months of imploring those around me on these rides to raise their voices and to act and after being met with nothing more than nods, I have decided that as things currently stand, I must refocus my efforts. We cannot continue our lives as if these are normal times. I will continue to support local farmers, artisans & businesses - especially those who show solidarity with the oppressed Peoples of the world. And I urge other folks do so as well. The struggle for Justice & collective liberation requires all of our efforts. This is a new beginning in the timeless & endless path of the struggle for Justice. We must look deep within ourselves to find that path. Perhaps one day our paths will cross again.
