You’ve heard of the Dead Freeways Ride exploring the Portland freeways we’ve never built or removed entirely, but what about all the freeways that did get built? Did you know that the majority of Portland and Vancouver area freeways are legally open to bikes and non-motorized vehicles? This shoulder season springtime pop-up ride will start in North Portland at the Delta Park/Vanport MAX station for easy transit connections. Meet at 9:40 am, ride after the 9:59 am arrivals of the Yellow Line MAX train and C-Tran line 60. After crossing the Columbia River on the Interstate Bridge, we’ll meander our way through Vancouver and unincorporated Clark County to the shoulder of I-5 en route to the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens in Woodland. Ride is not a loop, but transit connections may be available. Please check Facebook for the most updated ride details and links to additional information. Don’t hesitate to contact the Bureau of John Russell with any questions you may have. 31-mile route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50504387 Hulda Klager Lilac Garden admission is $10 per adult, with more details here: https://lilacgardens.com/ P.S.// The destination is a surprise, so don’t tell Emily! 🤫
