This is a no-drop ride, but this is also an unsupported ride. We will have a little hand pump, maybe a hex key set, and that's about it. Fun, leisurely ride to celebrate the life and music of Jerry Garcia. We will meet at the west end of Laurelhurst Park (SE 33rd & Pine) at 8:30p and ride will leave around 9p. The path will mostly follow neighborhood greenways and include a loop around the Esplanade. There will be a playlist of all Jerry tunes on a soundsystem on a bike trailer with several stops to hang. Bring lots of lights to make the party safe and fun! Was surprised I couldn't find a ride for Jerry for the "Days Between", leading up to the 30th anniversary of his passing so I'm making it happen! Not a ride
Variable, announced every Thursday, TBA
Brian McGloin
Sat, Aug 2, 2025, 9:00 AM
Starts at about 9, people roll in and out through around 11
We meet at a different park in Portland every Saturday all year morning at about 9 to talk about home repair, travel plans, obscure board games, insects, etymology and sometimes bikes. Coffee Outside is often a meeting or starting point for adventures, day rides, group food cart rides or other outings. Bring a means to make coffee or some sort of coffee-adjacent beverage, or not. Instant chai? Perfect. A canned coffee beverage from the bodega? Legit. A special small batch blend of beans roasted in your neighborhood roastery that you measure by weight (portable scale, naturally) hand-grind in your titanium grinder before making a slow pour-over using hand-made paper filters and perfect temperature water? Sure, go for it. Baked goods are always appreciated but not at all required. Uniform? Nope. Fancy bike? Nope. Racing or ultra bikepacking chops? Nope. We enthusiastically welcome new faces and have no barrier to entry other than being your authentic self and leaving any bad/aggro attitudes at home. We post the location every Thursday on the PDX Coffee Outside website, which our friend Chris updates, and our Instagram account.

End location: Luna's Ice Cream
Come along with me while we listen to hardcore music of the 80s and 90s and visit some of my favorite local businesses, which mostly include ice cream or cold treats, and awesome wares. We will visit the following businesses in this order: Hinterland Coffee & Clothing: https://www.hinterlandempire.com "A small clothing brand and coffee roastery with an emphasis on sustainability & community.🌿 Based in the PNW. Run by a grumpy, feral, queer." >>> this place is a haven where I refuel, the back patio gives a sense of calm. they have vegan bagels from Red Hen Bagelry on the weekends, the coffee is super good, and the shop dog Cece is my fave. We will stop for a bit here to give everyone time to enjoy their drinks, and shop and look around. Also, there is only one person running the counter so we will be chill :) Cheese & Crack Snack Shop: https://www.cheeseandcrack.com "CHEESE SNACK BOXES, SOFT SERVE, SUNDAES, DRINKS, & SLUSHIES" >>> I "may" come here each week, plus it is on Rainbow Road which is adored by the queers :) Ice Queen: https://icequeenyouscream.com "AWARD-WINNING VEGAN PALETAS & SOFT SERVE IN PORTLAND" >>> The best Paletas ever!! And I love their hot cocoa bombs in the winter!! Books with Pictures: https://bookswithpictures.com "“The Best Comic Shop in the World” We are here for everyone, and especially: queer folks, Black folks, indigenous folks, latinx folks, AAPI folks, women, neurodivergent folks, people with disabilities, and all of our amazing neighbors." >>> The humans here are an absolute delight, and they have a great collection of comics for everyone. Lords Luggage: https://www.lordsluggage.com "Bike bags and other sewn goods made in SE Portland,OR" >>> all my favorite bike bags and totes have been made by Andy, he is one of the best sew-ist and each bag really is a piece of art. And there is local art in the window to enjoy. B-Side Records & Vintage: https://www.bsiderecordsvintage.com "Timeless tunes and rare finds. Locally owned record shop, vintage marketplace, performance venue. Bringing the noise in downtown Milwaukie, OR." >>> such good taste in music, vintage wares, and the entire place is a cool vibe plus it's ran by wonderful humans Luna's Ice Cream: https://www.lunasicecream.com "We Pride Ourselves In Creating Handcrafted Ice Cream In Unique Flavors And Timeless Classics." >>> this is my number one ice cream favorites, the taste and flavors are spot on and I always have a few pints in the freezer. And Rachelle also makes cool art, check out "blockandpressco" on IG The playlist includes bands from the West coast, East coast and outside the US. The majority will be songs from the late 80s and 90s, when I was deep in the hardcore and straight edge scenes. Examples: Shelter, Minor Threat, Shield, Earth Crisis, Will Haven, Abhinanda, and so many more. *family friendly ride, but the music will be loud and may have explicit lyrics. The ride is as fast as I ride on my cargo bike with an amp strapped to it, quicker than a social pace "Estimated" stop times in case you want to start or end at one of the locations but they are all worth visiting: Hinterland: 11:00 to 11:30 Cheese & Crack: 11:45 to 12:15 Ice Queen: 12:30 to 1:00 Books with Pictures: 1:15 to 1:45 Lords Luggage: 2:30 to 3:00 B-Sides Records: 3:15 to 3:45 Luna's Ice Cream: 4:00

Are you ever riding your bicycle and wishing you had a soundtrack to go along with your ride? Bring on the boots and cats, because it's time to learn how to beatbox while riding a bicycle! Make fun noises and beats with your mouth, all while keeping your hands on the handlebars. We'll start with a quick introduction to beatboxing, and then we'll ride to places around town that have great acoustics or would be great impromptu beatboxing spots. Beatboxing is easy to pick up but hard to master, so this is a ride for everyone. Sponsored by Beatbox PDX, dedicated to creating a beatbox movement in our fabulous city.

The Opera ride. It’s more than Opera. You’ve either done it and know or you’re got to ask people who have.
NakedHearts:PDX ( Mischief and Trolling division lead)
Sat, Aug 2, 2025, 7:00 PM
Leave at 7:45
The link at the bottom takes you too a video Jack Coleman (videographer) made from the last Opera ride. First: Do you need to like Opera? Not at all. If you’re open to music transforming the way a ride feels and how our city looks you’re in for a treat. What can you expect? Well, Opera. A carefully curated playlist. Moments of high drama and thrilling exaltation. Periods of such serenity as voices and music cascade around the city canyons consuming us in beauty and infrequently heard tones. The first time we held this ride (Amy ‘joy’ and Moorland) had no idea how profound a beautiful experience it would be or the depth of that beauty. Also, the playlist is interspersed with dialogue from the movie Casablanca just to give an underlying tonal theme. Route: We’re going to be rolling through city canyons so the acoustics reverberate. There will be a store stop for refreshments and while there the music will change to Rock Operas. The pace will be social and slow. Rebellion and punk shows in many forms, ask around about this insane ride and the previous years mischief! We troll hard!!! CHAOS!!!!!!!!!!!! Safety: As with all our rides, we practice consent and we practice non violence. You’re invited to come as you are and be who you are.

Ride is a loop
A bike ride that pays homage to the 1960s television show by going to the site of a desert island in SE Portland. Yes, there is a 2.5 acre island completely surrounded by water in SE Portland. This island was once private property with housing, but is now public land that is being restored to its natural state. Gilligan’s Island seems especially appropriate for Pedalpalooza, as two dozen of the 98 series episodes featured pedal-powered inventions of one sort or another. This assortment of devices includes such things as a washing machine, a cooling fan, a sewing machine, a diamond-bladed saw, an air pump, a water wheel, and even a pedal-powered dental drill to replace tooth fillings. The picture shows a four-person pedal transmitter powered by Gilligan, Ginger, Mary Ann, and the Skipper to generate enough electricity for the Professor to send a signal into outer space. The desert island we ride to dates back to the 1930s when the WPA (Works Progress Administration) attempted to tame Johnson Creek by channeling the water flow. The project was a failure, making flooding even worse, so the city has been gradually reversing it in recent years. The bridge out to the island will be removed at some point, and the island itself may cease to exist if the channel separating it is removed. The ultimate goal is to reduce flooding and provide the area with a green space that will be a community amenity. Come on the ride dressed as one of the seven stranded castaways if you like. Other options include any of the roughy three dozen visitors to Gilligan’s Island. Somehow these visitors always got off the island without helping the castaways escape. The bike ride to the desert island is four miles, followed by a food cart stop on the route back to Clinton Park. Total distance for the completely-flat loop is eight miles. Including the food cart stop this ride should amount to a Three Hour Tour.

RIDE #6: MLK JR. BLVD Woodlawn City Park to Oregon Convention Center, no pause - 3.4 miles, no loop. Our city is lacerated by multi-lane highways and stroads that are hostile to human life and subservient to mass automobility. These rides aim to prefigure what these wretched roadways should become -- long, straight, safe courses for human-powered transit! We claim these roads for bicycling! These rides will take the entire rightmost travel lane, and potentially more, depending on size -- the more people show up to ride together, the less individual bravery any one person needs to bring. Due to the current unsafety of these roads, these rides are not particularly recommended for younger children. The goal is to consistently move at ~12 mph, though we'll maintain whatever pace we need to stay together. The ride leader is an experienced road rider and will ride in the back as caboose/sweep with a brightly visible trailer. Snacks, waters, first aid kit, and bike tools will be on hand. We will follow road laws, but will prioritize staying together as a group, so corking would be welcome if the group size justifies it. This is a series of six rides on "unfriendly" roads -- demanding by action that no city streets should be unfriendly to people outside of cars! June 29, 3:00pm - 11th/12th-Milwaukie July 6, 5:00pm - Cesar Chavez July 12, 11:00am - Sandy July 20, 2:00pm - 82nd July 27, 10:00am - Powell August 3, 1:00pm - MLK Jr.

We’re happy to be collaborating with The April Fools again (see their insta). They organized The Clown March back in April and had a couple of hundred clowns doing a street take over. This Clown Ride is going to leaving/returning from Laurelhurst Park where there’s a monthly Clown Picnic as well as HeartBeat Silent Disco. This is likely to be an incredible day, family friendly and healing in its mirth and gleefulness. Tall bikes, freak bikes, costumes and wackiness all welcomed. (The April Fools wanted to do a Clown ride and we were all a little sad Dingo the clown wasn’t leading this year having done it for a long time. So we reached out and got their permission to host this ride and use the name ‘The Clown Ride’.) As with all our rides we practice consent and non-violence. If you’re a banned rider you’re banned here too.

End location: Ride is always a loop
Our instagram is nakedHeartspdx so you can see how we ride. Weekly themed rides. Different ride leaders each week, but you can expect the ride to be social paced (8ish mph), no-drop, safe and welcoming, store stop with safe clean bathroom access and the ride is always a loop. We practice consent and non-violence specially with car interactions, what one ride does affects how all rides get treated. The Mellow Mondays are a space for (new) ride leaders to try out ideas in a very supported environment. You’ll often see Mondays rides appearing again during the warmer riding season. We follow the shift code of conduct and expect everyone to be respectful of themselves and others around them. This is so we can actually relax and have fun and connect with each other in a softer space. This isn’t a sober ride but we ask for moderation to keep the atmosphere relaxed. We recommend Abraham Fixes bikes in N Williams and NomadCycles (e-bike specialist) for repairs/sales and parts. Our friends over at RideSafePDX host regular ride and we’ recommend those as a pleasant warm group to ride with.

Quick how to lead a ride tutorial before Mellow Mondays ride. Things we’ll cover, Theme creation, Creating the atmosphere you want, Sourcing support, Route planning, Speed, What if’s…… Then QnA. This is meant as a conversation opener and an opportunity to move towards leading your own rides. This will be lead by Moorland with occasional support. Brief Bio: NakedHearts has lead around 350 ish rides, with 100 ish different ride leaders, we’ve worked with local schools, government agencies, festivals, DJ’s, Bands, venues, parades, artist groups of all kinds and supported 100 ish other rides. So we have a little experience. But the all the experience just teaches caring about the ride and riders is what matters, and everything flows from there. For most people that comes naturally. Kiro (who’s only 8 years old) is considered the best ride leader and he cares about the ride and riders and having fun and that’s what makes him the best because that’s his focus. The mechanics of leading and organizing can seem daunting but it’s within reach of all of us.

Ride is a loop
Mellow Monday is being led by Nichole (me) this week and I have a specific ride that I wanted to give more information about :) We are visiting the giraffe house and the owner will give us a short tour of the yard when we arrive. If you ever want to tour the inside you can reach out via his website: https://www.thegiraffehouse.org/visit. We will also be visiting PDX Dinorama on our way back so if you have any dinos/mugs/pens/pencils/erasers to exchange! Because we will be having such a specific visit we will be leaving promptly at 730. We will be starting the pre ride speech before then and leaving on time because I don't want us to be a super late night imposition on our neighbor who is taking their time to show us around a neighborhood gem. We will be making our store stop early at the Safeway on Hawthorne so please meet us there if you are not able to get to Abernethy on time. The ride is 11 miles and we are doing a good amount of uphill in to Montavilla, a little longer than the typical mellow monday but well have tons of fun!

At this point it’s pretty much official that the wonderful Benno Boy has ridden his last ride. Last Saturday the 28th of June Benno Boy hit the Godzilla,King Kong and Gigantor of Potholes at SE 39th and Stark on the way to @biteonbelmont. After 22755 Miles and 8 wonderful years of Riding all over Portland Oregon, nearly 1000+ Group Bike Rides and probably around 300-400 Ride Leads during Pedalpalooza and Afterpalooza plus probably 2000 rides to Portlands Food Carts his frame gave up the ghost. I’m very sad to say Goodbye to my trusty steed as he had become a huge part of who I am. There will be a memorial ride to say goodbye and to welcome his successor on Wednesday August 6th (Mini Version) and Saturday August 23rd (Full Version) Thank you to all the incredible bike mechanics for keeping him running since he was purchased from The eBike Store May 4th 2017 you are heroes of the highest order. FYI - many of Benno Boys parts will live on in his successor. Thank you #bennoboy you will be missed. Benno Boys official last Bike Summer. Ride Lead was the #BonbRelay on Friday June 27th. FYI - what does this ride include? If you know me my rides are equal parts of the following: Getting Lost (Get Lost Rides) Cool Streets (Streets that are not straight) Coolness or Hidden Portland Rides (Lots of Murals, Artwork, Colored Houses and fun found things) Light Brigade (Fun lit up rides) And Finally Foodie and Family Friendly Rides On the Mini edition we'll stay inner city with some Coolness, Cool Streets some food and maybe a Mini Food Stop before taking a swim in the Willamette at the Duckworth Dock

End location: Not a loop, but usually with a fire.
Thursday Night Ride is Portland’s longest-running weekly social ride, riding every Thursday night since 2015! Routes and ride leaders change weekly, but expect an energetic party-paced “rolling dive bar” of a ride for newcomers and regulars alike. Most rides will feature park and store stops, but come prepared to have fun and celebrate cycling together—other wheeled guests should respect the pace and space of cyclists. New leadership, same positive vibes. While you might expect some wheelies and other chaos, riders are expected to follow Shift’s Code of Conduct, and if you’re banned from any Shift rides, TNR isn’t for you. No complaints, just accountability—if your behavior makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please leave the ride before the ride leaves you. Riders should practice consent, accountability, respect, and de-escalation at all times. Stay behind the ride leader and don’t forget to thank a corker! 📍 Salmon Street Springs, every Thursday, rain or shine. 🕖 Meet at 7:00, announcements at 7:30. ✨Be an Empowered Bystander✨ See something off? Step up in a way that feels right for you: 🗣️ Direct: If it's safe, say *That's Not Right* for TNR. 🎭 Distract: Change the vibe and give them an out 🙋🏽 Delegate: Get help from a ride leader or trusted friend ⏳ Delay: Check in with the person afterwards 📝 Document: Write down what happened
⛲️ If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to get involved, come early and ask for the ride leader—we’ll see you at the fountain!

Portland gets 36" of rain a year — join a 7-mile ride to explore how water flows through the city, how we work with water and how you are part of it. This 7-mile ride invites you to explore Portland’s relationship with water — visible and invisible, natural and built. We’ll visit places where water tells stories of the past, shapes the present, and reflects our choices about belonging, stewardship, and connection to place. From native plants to urban springs, from art to hidden infrastructure, we’ll trace the ways water moves through our city. You’re not just along for the ride — you’re part of the water cycle. While this is not a full loop, a loop can be made by riding 2 miles on 7th Ave (a bike friendly road) from the end point north to Irving Park. This is a ride for all ages interested. Remember: - Helmet - Water bottle - Sunblock If interested or just curious, please drop your email in our google form for more info.

Do you have a favorite Bikeway Character? Come dressed up as your chosen piece of thermoplastic street art and let's get together & bike about it! We've come a long way from the days of rogue city workers altering the ubiquitous bike lane symbol into something cheeky. Until recently, there was a whole team dedicated to bringing school kid's winning designs to life on our streets! Full colour unicorns, lipsticked slugs, Gloria Steinem quotes... We'll meander around town appreciating some old & new road art, try to snap photos with our inspirations, and reminisce about Sharrow Characters long paved over. Perhaps most importantly, by showing our love for these silly art instillations we can try to convince PBOT to BRING BACK the Bike to Books Coloring Contest that quietly ended in 2022. This year we're exploring a bit of central Portland. We'll pop over to the west side for a bit, and then back over to the east side, recrossing some paths we've explored in past year's routes. This is a gentile, 8ish mile meander that aims to collect as many sharrows characters as we can. Stick with us for a photobooth, spoke card making station, and costume prizes in a park at the end! Need costume inspiration? tinyurl.com/bikelaneart will take you to a map of sharrows characters I've logged from across Portland, feel free to email me any other I've missed - let's crowdsource this collection! Also @bicycleroutefound is a GREAT follow on instagram with *mostly* local-to-Portland art on the street!

Attention Chile Heads: Join us for our second enchanted ride through close-in Southeast in celebration of green chile. Starting at Rainbow Road (Southeast Ankeny at 28th), we'll fuel up on nearby food and snacks before riding by even more restaurants, through parks, by shops, and maybe stop at a bar, the chile will decide the path! Hosted prior to the Hatch Chile Season, we'll fire up a bike-trailer roaster along the way for the smell of freshly roasted peps as we cruise. Completing our utopian journey, we'll cap off this afternoon ride with a final meetup.

Meet at noon, ride at 12:15
4:00 PM
End location: Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St, Vancouver, WA 98660
Each ride in this series will start at a Multnomah County Library (MCL) branch and end at a different library system, with an opportunity to sign up for a card at both locations. Did you know that if you live in any Portland area county — Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, or Clark — you can get library cards for all of those systems? Each library system has a unique selection of materials and services, so collect 'em all! Libraries also make great pit stops while out riding — water, bathrooms, a quiet spot to stop and rest without having to spend money — so knowing your library branches can be very useful even when farther from home. First up is Vancouver — officially, Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries (FVRL). We'll start at the MCL North Portland branch, swing by the recently-reopened MCL Kenton branch, then head over to Vancouver to the downtown Vancouver Community Library branch. If you want to sign up for an FVRL library card, bring photo ID and proof of address. See fvrl.org/library-accounts for more details and what kind of documents to bring. Route map: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50234458 Another perk of libraries is that they often have activities or exhibits available to visitors. For July and August, the Vancouver Community Library branch has an art exhibit by the Chronic Pain Project, "Illuminating the Invisible." The Chronic Pain Project is a local nonprofit "dedicated to raising awareness of the often-overlooked experience of living with chronic pain." The exhibit on display at the library was created by participants in the Chronic Pain Project and "the art created is a visual representation of their experience of pain intended to provoke conversation and promote understanding the wide variety of experiences people have with chronic pain." See chronicpainproject.org for more details. The ride isn't officially a loop, but if you stick around for a bit (check out the art, and maybe the farmers' market: vancouverfarmersmarket.org/downtown-market) we'll ride back as a group. Departure time from Vancouver TBD, but likely around 3:00pm. Directions also gladly given back to the start or to the MAX if you want to leave earlier. Look for future rides in this series to libraries in Milwaukie (Clackamas County, LINCC) and Beaverton (Washington County, WCCLS), dates TBD.

Sun, Aug 10, 2025, 1:00 PM
Meet at 1PM. Roll out at 2PM
Established in 2017, we ride once a month to enjoy what this city has to offer. Each month is led by a different CORVIDAE member, and therefore will be unique. We occasionally have themes or additional donations to different organizations. Additionally, host pop-up rides during the summer. We try to focus our rides on greenways, group etiquette, safety measures and general comradery. In addition to bike safety and accessibility, we want to promote using bicycles as an alternative to fossil fueled travel within Portland. This is a no-drop ride, but please bring your repair kit with a spare tube so we can keep the ride rolling. Please bring your own provisions; we’ll be stopping near stores, but not at them. Each member has an eye out for the crowd, will cork, sweep and be a general pillar of support. Ride pace is casual at around 10 miles with a few park stops. We aim to impress that this is a safe environment for all; no aggressive, sexist, racist, or any other kind of BS will be tolerated. Please review our Corvidae Code of Conduct. Meet 2nd Sunday of every month Hang at 1 PM Wheels down at 2 PM sharp Bring your respect for each and the city. Leave no trace 🤘🏽
