Calling all midwestern* transplants to Portland, ope! Come hang out with other “midwest nice” bike riders. Non midwesterners are also welcome, as long as you don’t make too many jokes about flyover country. No Coast=Best Coast, dontchaknow? We’ll ride bikes to Midwest themed places, like Michigan Avenue, play Bingo at a Recombobulation Area, and end with (your chance to purchase) pasties and fried cheese curds at Saraveza, a midwest owned and themed bar. Show off how truly midwestern you are by wearing gear from your favorite midwest state/region (think: mittens, cheeseheads), bringing midwest food and drink to share (potato salad? beer brats? gooey butter cake? malort?), and sharing your favorite midwest bands/music and sayings. Done RAGBRAI? Bring traditions from that wacky Midwest bike event to relive. Led by a Wisonsinite who thinks Wisconsin is truly the best midwest state, but hey, prove me wrong. *We’re using a very loose definition of midwest for this ride. (Midwest nice) debates about the region’s boundaries are encouraged. Seeking folks with loud speakers to play shared playlist with midwest music. Social media inspirations: #midwestvseverybody, #drinkwisconsibly, #nocoastbestcoast Scheduled for Wednesday August 10th (postponed from Aug 7th due to it being way too damn hot) Meet Irving Park by the bathrooms. Meet 6pm/ride at 6:30pm. This will be a slow to moderate-paced ride. The route will be about 7 miles (one way, with ride end at Saraveza), with some very minor hills.
