meet at 10:15 - roll out at 11 or just after... 11:11 maybe!
End location: soft ground, swimming, no drinking water available
mystery ride PLUS camp on a clean, beautiful beach where we can swim and frolic! depart saturday and return sunday (or feel free to join for the day). NEWER DETAILS! - A map will be provided at beginning of ride. Includes elevation profile and alternative route options for returning to the city. - We will have 3 or 4 planned rest / water / snack stops along the way out! The stop closest to the halfway point will include the possibility of swimming, before the biggest climbs. - We won't drop anyone! Pace is very casual, and meant to accommodate everyone. We may split into smaller groups for parts of the ride out if it seems sensible. MORE DETAILS: - 22 miles each way. heading out: the first 14 miles plus final ~2 miles are flat - with around 750ft of climbing between mile 14-20. some bumpy paths + light off-road riding - but any bike will suffice! - camping area has no services, no cell service probably, no cost, and no limit to number of campers as long as we pack out EVERYTHING we pack in! - plan to be self-sufficient for food, hydration, and sleeping needs. a water filter will be enough if that's your style - plenty of flowing water adjacent to our "group site." - nearest store to camp is a PLANNED STOP for our saturday ride out - it's around 3 miles from our final destination (but up a biggg hill from camp area, so it won't be easy to re-visit after we arrive). it is a fairly basic country store so don't expect a fred meyer, but it's definitely got all the basics so you could save some weight on your ride out if you plan to re-up here! but - you do you. - awesome place to swim or float on an innertube (bring rope if you want to anchor tube to shore), if so inclined. - the beach we'll camp on has awesome, soft sand to sleep on - comfy WITH or WITHOUT tent and sleeping pad. quite likely good hammock spots available, as well. - repeat: food, drinking water, and warm/dry clothes must be packed in. bring extra bags / baggies for garbage, etc. - this will probably work, hah! prepare for some weirdness
