End location: Colonel Summers Park
Let's practice putting our bikes on the bus! Multi-modal bike+bus trips open up a world of possibilities and access to places far away, exhaustingly hilly, and otherwise hard to reach. Note: The demonstration rack is indoors--masks are encouraged. We’re meeting at the rack so it’s OK to come without a bike and practice with one of ours–or even just watch and learn. OK to drop in anytime before 5:00 p.m. if 4 is too early. The practice session is followed by an optional bike ride to Colonel Summers Park for the Fancy Mondays Picnic (via New Seasons Seven Corners if you need picnic food–bring a lock if so!) Here’s the route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/40690809 Fancy Mondays Picnic info: https://www.shift2bikes.org/calendar/event-15193 Get in the mood by perusing TriMet's How to Load Your Bike on the Bus photo tutorial: https://trimet.org/bikes/bikesonbuses.htm and watching this awesome video from PBOT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-dzYFaW13M If music videos are more your thing, rock out to I Put My Bike On The Bus (but know our hooks are easier than those ones!): https://youtu.be/boiQKDHq7nk Requirements for fitting on the rack: * Wheel sizes 20-29 inches * Wheelbase up to 44 inches * Tires up to 2.35 inches wide * 55 pounds and under We’ll also discuss bikes on MAX and bikes on the soon-to-be FX line buses. Arrive by MAX: catch the green or yellow line to PSU Urban Center/SW 6th & Montgomery.
