DO YOU LIKE PASTRIES? Learning better routes from experienced cyclists and safe-street advocates? Seeing noteworthy points along the way? If so, this group ride is for you! The March BikeLoud PDX SE chapter ride will be a mellow, conversation-paced ride to FIVE BAKERIES, including Vegan and Gluten-Free options for you to purchase. It will be just over 4 miles and make a U-Shape. * Rides are free and membership is not required to join rides. Why meet so early on a Sunday?...'cuz bakeries sell out! We will start the day meeting up at 9am in the car-free Rainbow Plaza zone at 28th and Ankeny, allowing time to buy a coffee or cocoa and your first treat to get fueled up for the start of the ride. (Don't forget the reusable cup for your holder and to attach a pannier to bring home your goodies! And a mask for those food businesses asking for our cooperation.) Wheels up at 9:30, when ride leaders Max Nash and Tom Howe will guide us along greenways in the 20's & 30's and along SE Clinton & SE Ankeny to get to the various bakeries. We will provide tips, point out problem areas and discuss potential infrastructure changes on SE 34th. We will also have info on each of the bakeries being visited. Our last stop will be at a place known for its outstanding macaroons, then continue on to Laurelhurst Park to enjoy some of our goodies and a little more cycling camaraderie. We can’t give an exact end time as that will depend on bakery lines, but it should be a few hours total. We hope you come out to join! Note, the POURING RAIN CONTINGENCY will be to reschedule for the following Sunday, April 2.
