Does Shakespeare make you happy? Do you want to dress up like we're going to the Renn Faire, and listen to Renaissance / Shakespeare / Fantasy / Theatre themed tunes? Join us for a ride to Portland's own Shakespeare in the Park for a free showing of A Midsommer Nights Dreame, on the opening night of the Original Practice Shakespeare festival. Bring your own blankets, victuals and libations. You can have extra fun by dressing up in Rennissance / Fairie / fancy costumes. We will be heading to the summit Mount Tabor to see the first play of the season, which starts at sunset, 9pm. The ride leaves at 6:30pm so we can arrive around 8:00pm for seats on the grass, and to help cast the play! There is a stop half-way up for a short break including a contest, before riding up the rest of the hill through the park. You can picnic on the grass with us till the show starts at 9pm (it will end around 11:30). The play is free to the public, but not appropriate for younger kids. The ride itself is ok for older kids and teens, but be aware that the 3.5 mile route is a steady uphill ride to the summit of Mt Tabor. Original Practice Shakespeare uses limited rehearsal, scrolls in hand, audience interaction, and an onstage prompter, which leads to hilarity. In Shakespeare's Era, the actors rarely rehearsed together and the only context each had of the play was their own role on a scroll. The play was as fresh to the actors as the audience. For this first play of the season, the actors have no idea what character they will play until the AUDIENCE CASTS THE SHOW one hour prior to curtain! We’ll help cast the play on-site at 8PM and watch our creation take shape at 9PM. "Shakespeare should be a little dangerous!” https://www.opsfest.org/tour-calendar.html (While the play is free, of course the actors appreciate donations, so bring some cash if you can) Route map: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/40741147
