End location End location: Milwaukie Dogwood Day Festivities at City Hall

The May monthly ride for the SE Chapter of BikeLoud PDX goes from Portland down to Milwaukie to explore some bike infrastructure in that neighboring city. We’re using a quiet alternate route to the mile of bike lanes on the 20s Bikeway, so this will be a mellow, conversation-paced ride 6.4 miles in length. BikeLoud* rides are free and membership is not required to join any ride. This ride will end at the the Milwaukie Dogwood Day festivities at City Hall. The Milwaukie Station Food Cart Pod is just four blocks from City Hall and is a good place for eats and conversation. These food carts are adjacent to the Milwaukie Orange Line MAX station if you would like an alternate means to get back up to Portland. We start at Piccolo Park just off the SE Clinton Street Greenway and adjacent to the 20s Bikeway. The 20s is nine miles long and goes from NE Portland all the way down to the Springwater Corridor, mostly on calm neighborhood streets. We avoid the bike lane portion of the 20s by following a picturesque route through the Reed College campus. From the Springwater Corridor we will link up with the 29th Avenue Greenway and follow it to Milwaukie and the future Monroe Street Greenway, taking a look at the awesome multiuse path that was just built next to the new Seven Acres complex on Monroe St. Another thing we will look at is the site of the massive Hillside Park residential community that will be built over the next several years. This 600-unit complex will extend the 29th Avenue Greenway a bit further south and will also be tied in with the Central Milwaukie Bikeway Connection Project that will provide a calm connection between 29th Avenue and Monroe Street. We hope you come out to join! If you have any questions on this ride, please message the ride leader through the Instagram link below. * About BikeLoud PDX: From social rides to policy rides, BikeLoud PDX hosts many rides throughout the year to encourage people to meet each other, bike more, learn, and have fun.
