Colonel Summers Park, SE Taylor & SE 17th Ave
Meet at the SOUTH side of the park, between the basketball courts and the fountain/splash pad
Avery Hill
Sat, Jul 29, 2023, 4:00 PM
Meet at 4:00pm, warm up with a song or two, ride at 4:30pm.
Grab your ukulele (or other bike-able acoustic instrument) and join our rolling jam to parks and public spaces around inner SE and NE Portland. At each stop, local ukulele teacher Avery Hill will lead a few simple songs for the group to play and sing. Songs are geared (haha) toward ukulele players, but other instruments and/or sing-along-ers are very welcome. No sheet music or music stands needed! Riding details: This will not be an arduous ride, we will stick to bike-friendly streets, and no one will be left behind. The ride is NOT a loop but the final stop is close to the start of the route. Helmets are strongly urged, and we may ride late enough that you’ll want your lights. Also, if you haven’t ridden with an instrument case on your back or your bicycle, give it a try before the ride so you find the right fit / position for you (tip: wear your instrument diagonally across your back to avoid hitting your helmet with it!). Finally, if you don't like sitting in the grass, make sure your instrument has a strap and/or bring a blanket to sit on at our different jam spots.
