We are a team of students studying design at Tsukuba University in Japan. Tsukuba City, where we live, is working to promote the use of bicycles and improve infrastructure. In reality, however, Tsukuba City is where you need a car to get anywhere. We want to change this situation. We believe the key to making our city an actual "bicycle city" lies in Portland. It is difficult to change a city's infrastructure immediately, but we can change the soft aspects of the bicycle scene through our activities. We want to learn about such soft measures from Portland's active bicycle community development (e.g., the "Pedalpalooza" citizen-led event and the "Shift2Bikes Calendar"), where a system that allows citizens to organize events independently is actively in operation. We aim to design and implement a bicycle event calendar for Tsukuba City, hold many bicycle events, and build a community through cycling.    We want to investigate bicycling and community building by participating in ride events here in Portland and having the "JAPANESE GREEN TEA & SWEETS" event on August 30 and September 3. We will prepare Japanese sweets and green tea, so please come if interested. Have fun talking about bicycles, cities, and communities with us.   Please bring your cup and a little snack with the green tea!?We look forward to meeting you all.
