Nov 5 Bike Train to Watch the Portland Thorns Crush the TBDs !!! Update on 31 Oct !!! TriMet is closing Washington Park/Zoo Max station for an emergency preparedness drill. We will not be able to start or ride through here. The Bike Train will start from the RoseQuarter/Moda Center. The Portland Thorns have qualified for the NWSL Playoffs with a home game on November 5. Kickoff Time is 4:00 PM with gates opening at 2:30 PM Let’s ride our bikes to cheer on the Portland Thorns FC in the playoffs! We’re starting a Bike Train route to the stadium on gameday with a few different points to join up depending on where you are coming from. Note: Riding this Bike Train is Free, but if you want to get into the stadium, you'll need a ticket. It's not included in this ride. E-bikes and kids are certainly welcome. The pace will be "social" but we will have a timetable to keep, so keep that in mind. Our Bike Train will start at the Rose Quarter in front of the Moda Center (Under the LED events sign) and pick up Thorns fans who are coming from the North and Northeast. Are you on the Eastside? Can you make it to Laurelhurst Park? We’ll have a stop there next for you to join us (Northwest corner of Firwood Lake)! From there we will make our way to the Ladd’s Circle Stop for SE riders to get on board. The penultimate stop on our Bike Train will be Salmon St Fountain for anyone who just wants to ride with us for the triumphant last stint up the hill to the stadium in time for doors to open and let us in. Preliminary timetable: Departs from Rose Quarter: 12:45 PM (Under the LED events sign) Departs from Laurlhurst Park: 1:15 PM (Northwest corner of Firwood Lake) Departs from Ladds Circle: 1:45 PM Departs from Salmon St Fountain 2:15 PM Arrives at Providence Park Gates 2:30 PM Kickoff 4:00 PM If you haven’t biked to the stadium before, there is a large patrolled bike parking area set up on gameday. There are storage lockers to rent for $5. (Maybe some of us can share lockers and split the cost?) You’ll need to find your way home after the match. Let us know if you want advice on that. Ride will happen rain or shine -- within reason, of course. A little rain won't stop this train.
