    Loop Ride is a loop

Link to the route on Strava: https://www.strava.com/clubs/1008997/group_events/1645137 This is a challenging 60-mile gravel ride. Please read the information below carefully! Gifford Pinchot National Forest boasts many, many treasures. From beautiful half-hidden waterfalls to sudden vistas of snowy peaks in the distance that easily take your breath away. And in between, there are tunnels and caves created by lava coming from Mount St Helens that have ice in them year round. This might be the area I look most forward to every year to ride in. The area is astonishingly beautiful, the forest roads are quiet, and the gravel is delectable. It's a big ride for sure, and demanding. But the sights are worth every quiet moment of doubt when going up the road to see them. Tires of 40c with a good amount of knobby thread at minimum, but wider ones are highly recommended. I will bring a water filter, and recommend brining one yourself as well. With the water filter, we will have opportunities to refill our bottles on this ride. There will be no food-stops however, so be sure you bring enough calories. We will meet up at the Wind River Market Texaco in Carson (leave on time with about fifteen extra minutes; the drive is often just a little longer than Google Maps thinks it is). We leave from the meet-up point at 9AM sharp to drive to the start together (another 10-15 minutes). The goal is to roll out by 9:30AM. -- Seltzer Cycling Club is an inclusive, moderately-paced cycling club based in Portland, Oregon. Our rides sit squarely on the fun side of tough. Aspiring to support and empower each other into more confident and all-round riders. Some weeks that's a chill local roller to a hidden-away bakery. Others, a multi-day slog in the mountains. But most often you will find something in between, blending road and gravel. And always a 100% no-drop, social-first and group supported ride.
