We will leave soon after 6p so if you're running late, meet us at Oregon Park.
End location: Oregon Park, NE Oregon St & Northeast 30th Avenue, Portland, OR 97232
Come celebrate National Cheesecake Day/Golden Girls Day with a bike ride! Picture It: Portland 2024— A beautiful young group of Pedalpalooza riders leaves from The Florida Room to embark on a journey to the new, post-pandemic world. They laugh, they bike, they eat. They love, they hate, they eat. They dream, they hope, they eat. Every time you turn around, they eat. Bike and eat with us to celebrate this glorious day with GG-related festivities! There will be a costume contest! Dress like your favorite Girl, or their messiest grandchild, or George Clooney as a young cop in that one episode that had a young George Clooney. — Start point is The Florida Room, 435 N Killingsworth St., Portland (which serves booze and food). Meet here @ 5p, leave for the ride not long after 6p via a nice, mostly flat, mostly downhill route. This ride is casual, slow-paced,* and no drop. Route details here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/47564947 — We bike from The Florida Room to Oregon Park for (team or individual) trivia contest and (individual) costume contest, both with (token) prizes, ETA at the park is 7p. Feel free to join just for the park portion. — We will enjoy golden hour on the most Golden day of the year, together! Oregon Park is conveniently located near vegan-friendly Tropicale (order ahead for takeout @ https://www.tropicale.co/menu) and meat-friendly, gf-friendly Moonshot Tavern (https://www.moonshottavern.com/menu?menu=food#1). Place a takeout order and eat during the costume and trivia contests, which will start ~7:15p in Oregon Park. Bring: – your costume – a blanket for sitting on in the park – cash if you'd like to donate to Call to Safety (https://calltosafety.org) If you don't want to do the trivia portion but still want to stick around in the park at the end, be respectful of the participants who are interested in the trivia and find something else to amuse yourself with for the hour or so that it takes to do the trivia portion. Respect other people (this includes their pronouns) and be a good advocate for the Portland bicycling community. This means, among other things, not getting into altercations with motorists and practicing de-escalation strategies should the need arise. We keep ourselves safe. If you're banned don't attend. Stay home and work on accepting responsibility for and rectifying your crappy behavior.
