WHO WE ARE: Brooklyn Grocery Cooperative (aka KnowThyFood Cooperative) is a member-owned grocery store based in the Brooklyn neighborhood. Our lease expires at the end of September at our current location and so we'll be transitioning to a new location a few blocks away in the coming weeks. We're going to bring some exciting changes to our operation and will be refocusing on the neighborhood that we serve. As Brooklyn's only grocery store, we want to keep the neighborhood from becoming a certified food desert with our new mission prioritizing sustainability, accessibility and community. We want to expand cafe service, host events and farmer's markets. WHAT WE NEED: In order to make this vision possible, we'll need community involvement! We invite anyone to become an owner of our new grocery cooperative by becoming a volunteer and member! Important to us, is partnering with local organizations in the community like the amazing folks at Shift2Bikes, who share the vision of a stronger, bike-friendly community where neighbors help each other. EVENT DETAILS: In the co-op spirit we would love to make the our upcoming move by bike! Our new spot will still be in Brooklyn, so only a few, very short (and flat!) blocks from our current location! Volunteers will begin assembling around 11:00am where snacks and refreshments will be provided. 12:00-4:00pm: volunteers will be loading up their bikes and moving together between locations as a group, which will last for several hours at most. _ If you are interested in learning how to become a volunteer and to support our mission, you sign-up here: https://bio.site/brooklyngrocerycoop
