Coraline's Curious Cat Trail is an art exhibit of 31 uniquely and beautifully painted cat sculptures located throughout downtown Portland. The exhibit gets its name from the cat who played a pivotal role in the animated movie Coraline. The cats were installed in early August, but will soon be taken away for an auction benefiting Doernbecher Children's Hospital. This bike ride will go by 29 of the Coraline cats. The two not on the ride are located high in the hills to the west of downtown. The ride starts at the cat named "Made of Hug" at OMSI and concludes 8 miles later at the cat named "Dream Come True" located outside the Lan Su Chinese Garden. From that last cat there is an optional 2 mile ride back to OMSI using the Eastbank Esplanade Path. A handout will be given out at the start of the ride providing details on the 29 cats we pass by. There is also an inexpensive cell phone app covering the trail which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. The focus of this ride is to follow the cat trail through downtown, and we only briefly pause at each cat. To examine the sculptures in detail or take pictures of yourself with the cats come to the Farewell Weekend event on October 12 and 13. On those two days all the cats will be on display side-by-side in Director Park. Come ride Coraline's Curious Cat Trail before it is gone!
