Portland's Underground Cargo & Utility Bike Racing Event returns for its FIFTH YEAR - Carry Sh*t Olympics is a weekend-long series of competitive events and concludes with this year's capstone event: THE CARGO CIRCUIT RACE SUNDAY 9/27, 4:00-6:00 PM @ Vera Katz Statue, Eastbank Esplanade & SE Madison St Calling all brave cargo bike riding competitors! Do you have what it takes to go fast in circles? While carrying things?! Whilst competing against some of the most decorated cargo bike racers in the world?!?!! Come find out by riding BIG bikes in circles really FAST!! HOW'S THE RACE WORK? Racers will complete 4 laps on a short closed-course loop. Near the start/finish line there are identical sets cargo: something big, something heavy, and something awkward. Racers ride 1 lap empty, stop to load all the cargo onto their bike, then continue riding 3 laps with their cargo. First one across the finish line with all their cargo wins. HOW DO I ENTER? Arrive at 4pm and register. Bring yourself, a competitive spirit, and a cargo bike capable of hauling a moderate load. If you don't have a cargo bike and want to race, come anyway and we'll try and find you a loaner. If you do have a cargo bike that you'd let others ride, you'd be a real MVP for that ;) The race is free, but donations are welcome.
