Are you afflicted with an affection for old French bikes? Do you not care that parts are very difficult to find because almost every dimension on the bike is specifically French? Did you ever wonder why the French routinely used Reynolds 531 tubing which is British instead of French Durofort or Vitus? Do you have Harris Cyclery bookmarked on your browser? You know who you are. You are on old bike geek. And it isn't just because your bike is old. Come geek out with other similarly afflicted souls. Beer will be involved.

Fined tuned from last year,we'll start with a quick background of Buddhism and a 10 minute meditation, then head out with some very short rides (6 blocks between the first 5 stops) and then ride to several stops further out. The final two stops will be past 82nd Ave. We’ll learn about different Buddhist groups, see some amazing sites (including what Willamette Week called "Portland's Best Buddha"). We’ll end up near a vegetarian, non-profit Buddhist restaurant for optional dinner. Donations optional but appreciated. Beginner friendly.

Biking and Camping needn't be an epic affair. This one will have you home for lunch. Mostly the trip is about having fun, being outdoors, and instilling a sense of self-determination in the boy -- teach him the right way to be a hobo; before he learns it on the streets. You may brown bag dinner or we'll be stopping for "carry-out" en-route. (Umm, Mom's not around... think chips and candy bars.) Destino is still TBD. Boys not riding multi-gear bikes should be on tandems, trailers, or racks. Dads can single speed if they want to.

BYOB, hula hoops, blankets, and park gear. Douglas Adams says: Always remember your towel!

Santa
Fri, Jun 26, 2009, 4:30 PM
What Would Santa Demand? Christmas resched to last Friday in June? Public floggings of convicted bike thieves? Or maybe rename the City to Santaland? Whatever it is you think Santa desires, come dressed to impress, with a message on a home-made sign. Speech, free. But, please no overtly political speech against anyone named Sam. That'll cost AT LEAST 50 clams, the fine for disturbing the peace. Then, roll Downtown aimlessly, until group consensus finds Vic Alonzo's Cadillac Hummer, or one of the City's finest gentlemen's club, whichever's 1st.

That's right! It's an ice cream social. You say you're vegan? We say PERFECT! This social is all about hemp ice cream (not that kind of hemp ice cream). Grab a scoop on your evening commute and while away a few moments with your cycling breth- and sistren over chilly confection.
