Ride is a loop
End location: beers if anything is open after 8
As children watch patiently out the window for the chance to ride a bike to school or the park, and the skies fill with wildfire smoke, PBOT continues building streets for cars, sometimes with a block or two of bike lane for a treat. Bikeway designs from 20 years ago are being cast in concrete as the anticlimax of 30 years of advocacy, to the tune of $26M/mile... and about one mile per decade. We'll look at the terrain between Multnomah, Burlingame, Hillsdale, and a few other neighborhoods, why Barbur Blvd is such a state-highway-dept-neglected disaster, some recently-completed obsolete bike infrastructure, and the secret trails and side streets we use to sneak through the gaps between the car sewers. This casual group ride will be an easy pace with several stops to discuss and observe the transportation infrastructure and missing links of southwest bikeways along the SW corridor.
