Meet at 8:30 roll at 9
Ride is a loop
We will leave from the large gravel lot in downtown Hillsboro (just off the MAX line) at 9am with the goal to be back between 4-5pm. Pack a lunch/snacks or plan to purchase on the way, there will be opportunities for store stops in both Banks and Vernonia. We will stop for lunch and a little time off the saddle at the lake in Vernonia before heading back down the hill. This route is mostly uphill going out, but then a fun roll back down the hill on the return trip. Most of this ride will be on the Banks-Vernonia trail, a beautiful rail-trail project that climbs through the foothills of the coast range. The entire ride from Hillsboro to Vernonia and back will total around 70mi but please feel free to join us at one of the stops along the way I'll list below if you don't want to ride the whole thing. Disclaimer: Though most of the ride will be on a trail we will be on rural roads from Hillsboro out to Banks before getting on the trail. If you choose to ride the whole thing please come prepared for this and please have a strong understanding of your rights, best safety practices, and norms of riding a bike with car traffic. If you ride the whole thing with us there will be a short segment of gravel as well, please be prepared. Banks Trailhead: Leaving at 10:30 This will be a store stop for the ride. Buxton Trailhead: Leaving at 11, this will only be a quick water break stop so please be ready to leave before the ride arrives.
