Bicycle Film Festival is returning to Portland on April 30 at Cinema 21! BFF Portland presents international short film programs that appeal to film connoisseurs, avid cyclists and everyone in between. Curated documentaries, narratives, animations, award-winning directors, and emerging talents all share equal billing. 6:30 PM PROGRAM 1 Cinematic Shorts A collection of short films that explore the bicycle as a symbolic tool of freedom. Experience worldwide cycling culture through China's bustling markets, youth on the streets of Lisbon, inclusion in Portland, bikepacking Kyrgyzstan's remote mountains, South African community, and the resilience of the Gaza Sunbirds. 8:30 PM PROGRAM 2 Urban Bike Shorts A beloved BFF tradition made by cyclists for cyclists. These films celebrate the spirit of street, youth, commuter, fixed gear, BMX and messenger cultures around the world. ABOUT BFF In 2001, Brendt Barbur founded Bicycle Film Festival after being hit by a bus while cycling in New York City. What began as a personal journey became a global celebration of cycling through stories featuring leading voices in art, film, music and advocacy. 26 years later, BFF has reached over one million people in over 100 cities from Paris, Tokyo, Mexico City to Cape Town, Istanbul, and beyond. Hosted in iconic venues like the Sydney Opera House and the Barbican in London, BFF shines a light on cycling culture. We are enthusiastic to bring BFF back to Portland!
