Meet at 2:00pm, ride at 2:15pm sharp!
Come on my ride! It will only be moderately fun, but you will get a swell drawing in your ride tracking program after! If you don’t have a tracking app or device, get one or this ride will not be fulfilling for you! Tip off at Ladd’s Addition most eastern rose garden (Harrison & Locust) at 2pm. From there we will head around the balls of Tabor and end back from where we commenced. This ~11 mile ride will be a test(ical) to your endurance. It will be slow and hard (approx 1 hour) as I constantly check my map to make sure we are balling correctly. There are some steep ups and downs, and a handful of sketchy intersections are necessary, but otherwise it will be largely casual on bike friendly streets. Not for kids, IF YOU COULDN'T TELL FROM ALL MY INNUENDOS

4th annual? 5th annual? I can't remember... This is my favorite ride in Portland to take friends upon, embarking from the NE region of Portland, and heading into the great unknown on my favorite meandering of bicycle routes. This route is slightly different than last year (If you want a mysterious night ride that does more riding than stopping, this is the ride for you!) Length: ~21 miles, Lights: Yes! Helmets Highly Recommended (We may/may not ride through Vancouver) Terrain: mostly flat, 1 very short steep hill. Beer?: If you'd like, NOT required. The route is a linear loop, bail options are limited. There will be 10 minute stop in the middle. There will be N+1 Hills, depending on your definition of hills.

Put a wind chime on your bike and come to this bike ride! There is no remedy better for a world so sick as this one than the cacophonous twinkles of a wind chime being used entirely incorrectly as it jostles to and fro with every whim of the road. It's the most fun you can possibly have. Pinwheels, wind socks, and whirligigs are also welcome at this ride, assuming you can put them on your bike.

Back for its 9th year, Get Lost! is a Pedalpalooza Bike Ride led entirely by chance. Dice are rolled to determine how many blocks to ride, and which direction to turn once we get there (odd total = R, even =L). We ride until we find a natural end point. Feel free to bail whenever you wanna go somewhere else. You never know what to expect. Since we won't be taking designated bike routes riders should be pretty comfortable in semi-hairy conditions, but dangerous or illegal routes will not be traveled. Probably not a loop, but that's what we said the first year, and we (eerily) ended up in the exact place we started! Read about that year's ride here: http://bit.ly/2qY2TmQ

Meet at 5:30, leaving Peninsula Park no later than 5:45 (and if you're late meet us at the first stop, the Tehuana Oaxacan Truck on Killingsworth)
Second annual! Meet up at 5:30, ride leaves at 5:45. We're proposing a slightly different line up than last year; we'll meet at the Gazebo of Peninsula Park and we'll ride to Tehuana Oaxacan Truck, Michoacan Corporation, Charro Truck (Lombard and Peninsular), Rose City Tacqueria/ El Coyote Truck, and finish at Tienda Santa Cruz (and we might take the tacos to go and eat them at Peninsula Park if the weather's good) before finishing over some beers at slims. This is a slow, no-drop (no one left behind!), all-ages-and-abilities ride on neighborhood streets - it's about an ~8 mile, one-way ride that ends in St Johns, so prepare for a long ride back into town or hopping on the 4/44/75/35/16 bus lines for a ride back into town. Please bring cash to hand to me at the beginning of the ride, or even better, venmo/paypal me some $ ahead of time (asking sliding scale $15-30). We like to order the food in advance to give the restaurants a heads up. Proceeds go towards generous tipping at each local business and towards a lump sum donation to PCUN – Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste. . spread the word: https://www.facebook.com/events/315128285825912/ . We'd love it if you paid us ahead of time for the tacos, and RSVP'd that you are coming. It'll make the logistics of the ride much easier for everybody. Let's meet to solve the location puzzle, bike to wherever that takes us, and then puzzle some more. I'll group people into ~4-person teams, but feel free to bring teammates if you want. In order for me to estimate how many location puzzle sheets to print, please RSVP via FB if you are on there, or send me a text (you can just text 'pp')

A SW Bikeways tour of the SW Vermont and Multnomah paths, and the planned Capitol Hwy reconstruction south of Multnomah Village. Our Climate Action Plan says half of vehicles travelling on these streets will be a bike within one decade. Are we designing accordingly? The current and future design details for intersections, driveways, and cross-sections all prioritize car traffic and parking over bike safety and convenience, so how is this going to change? We'll look at some details of how the bikeway or multi-use path is compromised by intersections and driveway crossings. We'll also tour some of the connections and talk about how upcoming projects could best complete the bikeway network. Easy pace, 5-ish miles, end at food and drinks.

Sun, Jun 16, 2019, 8:00 AM
On December 31, 2016, my father Tom Gooley past away after a long battle with cancer. He was an amazing human being who lived his life to the fullest. And, to put it bluntly, he was a badass on a road bike. His birthday is June 18th 1955, always fell right around Fathers Day. So every Fathers Day, I honor him by taking his road bike out and doing a distance ride equal to whatever age he would have turned year. So in 2019, for what would have been his 64th birthday, it's a 64 mile ride. The three stipulations for the routes are: Distance in miles must be equal to Tom's age that year. Must have serious hills (he'd have it no other way). Must end at a place where we can imbibe in tasty beers (again, he'd have it no other way). This is not a race, but friendly competition among riders is 100% encouraged. The route is shown on the Facebook page. It starts at Irving Park, rides to Vista House via the Columbia River Trail and historic highway, down to Powell Butte, then Council Crest Park before ending at Breakside Brewery in Slabtown. This is an unsupported ride, bring your own support if you wish. No fees to join in, however there will be a charity recommendation to donate to in Tom's name. I'm still vetting a few charities, but if anyone can vouch for a local bicycle non-profit or cancer organization let me know.

Meet at 10, eat if you want, leave after 10:30 AM
A ride evoking the spirit of the Rough Stuff Fellowship, a UK based cycling society dedicated to getting off the beaten path. There's plenty of "pockets of country" that can be found without leaving the city limits! Expect a 30 mi moderately paced exploration (no one left behind), with a mixture of paved/unpaved, a butte or two, and a lot of places you probably haven't been to. You may also have to push a bike at some point. Route not a loop and will remain a mystery, but we’ll end up somewhere near transit and where we can get food/drinks at the end. Wider tires never hurt!

You’ve heard of the Dead Freeways Ride exploring the Portland freeways we’ve never built or removed entirely, but what about all the freeways that did get built? Did you know that the majority of Portland area freeways are legally open to bikes and non-motorized vehicles? A representative from the Bureau of John Russell will be on hand to familiarize everyone with the intricacies of OAR 734-20-0045: Prohibition of Non-Motorized Vehicles on Freeways. He’ll show you the ropes, having ridden every mile of freeway in Western Oregon himself. Starting from Goose Hollow, we’ll ride almost 25 miles without having to exit the freeway en route to Oregon City. After a pit stop to refuel, we’ll continue with the expressway portion of the ride all of the way back to the Central Eastside. Distance around 45 miles, but if freeway riding isn’t for you, there will be multiple opportunities to turn around with connections to transit at most exits if needed. Come have fun and ride the roads you never thought you could! Time and details subject to change.

Then the ride will leave the school lot and ride down the block to circle the paved paths through Woodlawn Park (Wheels in the Woods!). We plan to end by 1pm, but you're welcome to peel off at any time as attention, hunger, and patience allow. :) Some boards will be available if you don't have one of your own, and find yourself feeling curious. Please bring a helmet (and pads if needed).

Repeatedly Pass the 60th MAX if you are running late
6:30 PM
With three light rail lines the 60th MAX station could be an Amazing bike to Transit connection if only we had safe access. PBOT has money to build facilities, but their current choice is not world class in scope or safety. This ride will focus on what world class Vision Zero bike access could be, within reasonable budget constraints and city transportation policy. A technical ride with frequent stops for discussion, includes some steep slopes including Alameda Ridge and the northern leg of the Tabor Trail (60s Bikeway). 60s themed dress encouraged. PBOT comments and survey are open for comment until June 24. Terry D-M, the Greenway Guru

Everyone knows that Portland is home to Powell's, the biggest independent new and used bookstore in the world! But Powell's is only one of a city teeming with bookstores: the weird, the quaint, the highly specialized, the downright creepy. We'll ride to several, stopping to browse and tell stories about the encounters we've had in their stacks. Writers, bookstore owners, and avid readers encouraged; maybe we'll be lucky and find some of our own books shelved among the worn paperbacks and the self-help classics. Ride of about 8-10 miles with several stops. Not a loop.

The Green New Deal is gaining traction in this country and the time for action is past due. While the Green New Deal at a national scale would meet many existing societal needs, some socialists argue that a housing guarantee (housing for all) needs to be prioritized as a core value of a Green New Deal policy. Come join us to see some examples of what Portland is doing to address the housing crisis, acknowledging how this connects to environmental justice, and how we can envision a national housing guarantee through the Green New Deal. The ride will be hosted by the Portland Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Join us by collectively envisioning the world we need, now more than ever before. System Change Not Climate Change.

Meet at 1, ride at 1:30 pm
Come celebrate cold winter holidays in one of the hottest months of the year! Wear a holiday costume. Sing carols at the top of your lungs. Make pedestrians and drivers say, "Whaaaaaaat!?" Last year, on one of the hottest days on record in 2018, over 20 riders showed up, including people in full Santa and elf suits, and there was even a xmas tree on a bike trailer! We'll blast Hannukah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas tunes during this ride. Meet at Ladd's Circle at 1 pm, decorate your bikes - I'll bring snow spray, holiday stickers, tinsel, etc. We'll meet up with Jack's "Haloween Ride" group, then both groups will ride together at 1:30. We'll have free ice-cold drinks ready to hand out, and at the end of the ride we'll award prizes for best costume and best-decorated bike. A one-hour loop with stops at Holladay Park, Grant Park, and Laurelhurst Park, ending back at Ladd's.

Let's talk about the future of bikes. Let's bike on the past, biking into the future, peddle to the future. I'll show you what I've encountered in other cities biking across USA. Portland is by no means the top biking City. It's about 3 years behind other cities cause the leaders of these rides are boozers not bikers. Well TJ is awesome. Diablo too. Let's get these bikes up to 60mph and the flux Capacitor will work. Let's see how much you all bike. I'm serious.

Leave after the Purple Rain Sing-a-Long
Bowie Bike Ride (that is not on his Birthday in freezing January!) Need I say more . . . No, but if you want to know a little more here here ya go: BOWIE! With no more Prince vs. Bowie, we've been having birthday rides for each of them. Prince's Birthday falls in June (6/7/1958) often during Pedalpalooza. But David Bowie's is in January (1/8/1947) which means only the most Hard-Core Bowie Fans and Cyclist brave the icy temperatures, rain, wind (& even the many inches of snow we had on his 70th Birthday!) We're constantly asked, "What about a Bowie Ride? Please just have one when it is nice out/during Pedalpalooza!", so here ya go! It'll be a really short, easy ride up to his bike lane by the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall and then down for a dance party following the Prince Purple Rain 35th Anniversary sing-a-long at Pioneer Courthouse Square David Bowie is Dead, Long Live David Bowie . . . Shift Calendar: SLOW pace Not a loop! Bring Lights/Lock and Ride at Own Risk! Should go with out saying but ALL Pedalpalooza Rides are LEAVE NO TRACE! Pack it in, Pack it out and please help educate our fellow riders to this ethos *Lighthearted REALLY early prelude protest, expounding the principles of http://pdxwnbr.org/why/ (but without nudity?) ;) #Pedalpalooza #TeamBowie

Join Bicycle Kitty for a fun outdoor pool hop. We'll aim to visit 2-3 outdoor pools and possibly 1 beach. We ride rain or shine. Bring pool entry fees of $15, a swimsuit & towel, a lock and lights (just in case!). Pools sell snacks like popcorn and nachos. Kids are welcome, but they'll need to be able to ride up to 20 miles with some hills and keep up with the adults. Ride leader will provide a printed map for those riders unable to sustain a 10mph pace. Please note: ROLL TIME IS NOON. We will be riding at a faster pace (11 mph average) than many pedalpalooza rides. We’ll also be climbing the Terwilliger hill (~350’, or half a Rocky Butte climb). We’ll ride about 20 miles, and will not finish where we started. Riders will receive route maps at the start with the agenda of pool locations. We do regroup a few times, but it’s tough to keep the group together so everyone gets to climb at their own pace. Afterwards some of us will head to Dock O'Clock to ride and swim even more!

Oh, so you like riding gravel you say? Getting "out there," getting "rad?" Well why pay for gas and drive all the way to some logging roads when we've got plenty of gravel just sitting here for free! This will be a tour of some of the crappiest most gravel-y potholed nonsense godforsaken lumps and bumps where the city has totally forgotten about us and given up all hope for fair and equitable transportation. Bring your fat bikes, your gravel bikes, your mountain bikes, your full-squish bikes! Proven doable on a road bike if that's all you've got! Remember: I never said it was safe. But I did say it'll be fun! Ride ends around a mile from start point. Age note: You don't need to be 21, just this really isn't a slow pace kid ride. Unless your kid is a badass who can take care of themself and rides sorta fast over chunky uneven road then bring em - they sound awesome! We might get a beer after at one of SE Portland's finest dive bars, if we want, probably no kids there.

Meet at 5. Roll at 5:30 sharp
7:00 PM
We ride our bikes to be in the moment and to be connected to the world around us. We ride our bikes to be a part of our bike community. And we ride our bikes because we can! Join Northwest Trail Alliance on a casual ride using mostly multi-use paths as we wind our way through parks and nature preserves from Pioneer Courthouse Square to the Aladdin Theater. We'll cover about 10 miles. Tiny riders are welcome, but please consider the length of the ride and whether they'll have a good time. If you're feeling it, join us for the screening of Return to Earth, a mountain biking film about being in the moment on two-wheels, something to which we can all relate. More details on the film in the Facebook Event link below. The Northwest Trail Alliance is an all volunteer non-profit based in Portland that builds and maintains more than 200 miles of mountain bike trails in NW Oregon and SW Washington from the foothills of Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams and Mt. Saint Helens to the Pacific Coast. Our mission is to increase mountain biking opportunities, advocate for trail access, promote safe and responsible mountain biking and to build sustainable trails. Meet at 5:30pm, Ride at 6:00pm
Experience Portland's best gravel ride and most scenic commute to North Portland as we pedal along Leif Erikson Drive and up Saltzman Road through Forest Park, stop at the excellent Skyline Tavern for well-deserved food and drink, then bomb down Germantown Road to the St Johns Bridge to cap it all off. Most of this ride is on hard-packed gravel, so wider/knobbier tires are recommended (but not required). The ride is about 15 miles total, with about 1500 feet of elevation gain (but also 1500 feet of glorious descent at the end!). Don't worry if you're a beginner gravel rider or Saltzman Road climber--we will stop at a few places to let people catch up, and will leave no one behind. There's a good chance it will be dark by the time we leave the Skyline Tavern, so bring your lights!

We're Portlanders and we love housing! Also affectionately known as "YIMBYs", we support policies that allow for more homes to be built in our city and region. We also acknowledge the impact of displacement caused by new development and changing neighborhoods and we support policy to prevent displacement, as a priority. On this ride, we'll cruise through all 5 Portland quadrants, looking at examples of dwellings that come in all shapes and sizes, including single family homes (old and new), duplexes, triplexes, quad-plexes, apartment buildings, ADUs, new affordable housing, and everything in between. We'll try to highlight sustainable and especially well-done new developments and we'll talk about the impact of architectural design on our neighborhoods, too. We are welcoming to all, especially new neighbors, so please come with a positive attitude and bring your "house love". This roughly 10-mile ride will minimize elevation gain and will not quite be a loop (unless you go on Francine's Climate Cycles ride earlier, in which case it will be a loop). Plan for an average speed of between 7-10 mph. We'll try to wrap up around 5 pm so everyone headed to the WNBR can rest up!

June 30th- Ride through Portland and learn about all the things that you can get without any money. Whether freeboxed, volunteer-trade, or barter there are lots of resources that don't require money. Do you need a computer? You can get that for free. Need a bike? You can get that without money too. Want some better clothes? That's an easy find. I will be carrying a trailer with lots of stuff and food to give away. Bring along stuff to share, bring bags to pick up stuff or just ride for fun. I'm willing to help with bike repair for 40min at the beginning. Show up early if you want that. Meet at 3pm, ride at 3:30pm.
Bring your Chicago Flags, Cubs hat, Black Hawks jersey, or whatever gear you have and lets meet up for a Chicago themed ride. We will meet at 3pm in the empty lot across the street from Michael's on 11th and SE Sandy. First order of business is to grab a Chicago style dog and chat about how much we miss the cold weather and Da Bears. We will ride at 330p and head up North and wave as we pass Via Chicago. We will make a pit stop at Alberta Park and cheers to all those times we made our best friend take a shot of Malort and to make fun of those who has never sat in a frunchroom. We will end the ride close to where we started at Sammich at 21st and E. Burnside so we can finish off the ride with an Italian Beef. This is a relaxed ride and will be just over 6 miles.

Meet at 5, ride at 5:30, end at the Skidmore Bluffs around 7:30 for the big finish!
Welcome to the Kate Bush Tribute Ride, an ode to England's national treasure herself. We hope to bring together stateside fans of this genuine auteur. Despite what the name says, there may or may not be hills on this route. But even so, if I could make a deal with god, I'd get him to swap our places. The ride will end out on the wiley, windy moors of the Skidmore Bluffs, where we will engage in a group recreation of Ms Bush's iconic "Wuthering Heights" dance. All riders are welcome to join, either as a participant or a spectator. Pack a red dress for the big finale!

We got rained out on Wednesday, but Sunday looks better. What better way to end Pedalpalooza than by riding bikes up big hills, drinking beer and watching the sun set over our beautiful city?! We did this ride for the first time last year and it was a great time! Meet at Ladd Circle around 7:30. Bring a big bottle (22oz) or two of your favorite beer to share (tasting cups will be provided). We leave at 8PM sharp! We bike to the circle at the top of Mt. Tabor where we will enjoy beer and the sunset! Sun sets at 9:04PM on this day. This is a 4 mile ride with about 600ft of climbing. Google says it takes 30 minutes. If you are running late, no worries, just meet us at the top. Bring lights because it will be dark when we ride back down the hill. On the way back, we will cruise down Hawthorne, stopping for snacks at the food carts.
